Welcome
The publication of the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council Local Development Plan Draft Plan Strategy 2030 represents a significant milestone and will set out the framework for future planning and sustainable development of the Borough until 2030.
The draft Plan Strategy has been developed following extensive engagement with the public, stakeholders and our elected Members and follows on from the publication of our Preferred Options Paper in June 2017.
Formal consultation on the Draft Plan Strategy
The draft Plan Strategy is published for formal public consultation for a period of eight weeks beginning Wednesday, 16 October. Written submissions in respect of the draft Plan Strategy and accompanying Sustainability Appraisal, Equality (Section 75) Screening Report, Habitats Regulations Assessment Report and the Rural Needs Impact Assessment can be made in writing no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, 11th December 2019.
Submissions should be in ONE medium only i.e. in hard copy or online or E-mail. Submissions should include the full name and address of the person making the submission, and details of organisation, community group or company represented where relevant.
Submissions should be clearly marked ‘draft Plan Strategy’.
Make an Online Submission
To make an online submission please Register as a New User, using the link located on the right of the screen. This is a one-time process. Once you have activated your registration through the link sent to your email address, you can then log in and make a submission.
Submissions may be made via this consultation portal using the Make a Representation link on the right of screen.

Make a Written Submission
Written submissions marked ‘draft Plan Strategy’ should be completed using our representation form which can be downloaded here and emailed to planning@midandeastantrim.gov.uk or by post to:

What Happens Next
Once the 8-week period of consultation has closed, the Council will collate the representations received and publish these online for a further 8-week period of consultation to allow counter-representations to be made. The representations will also be available for public inspection at our Local Planning Office, County Hall, 182 Galgorm Road, Ballymena, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Once this period of counter-representations has closed, the Council will collate the counter-representations and make them available online for public view. They will also be available for public inspection in our offices at our Local Planning Office, County Hall, 182 Galgorm Road, Ballymena, Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm.
All representations will be forwarded to the Department of Infrastructure in advance of Independent Examination.
Soundness
The draft Plan Strategy will be examined at Independent Examination in regard to its soundness. Accordingly, your responses should be based on soundness and directed at specific strategic policies or proposals that you consider to be unsound, along with your reasons.

A number of drop in sessions have been organised. Drop in sessions will be staffed by members of the Development Plan Team who will be happy to answer any queries you may have in an informal setting regarding the draft Plan Strategy.
